PLEASE GET VACCINATED

COVID 19, Healthcare

The data are now coming in, and as we have expected the dangers from getting even mild cases of COVID-19 are severe.   Any potential risks from vaccination are microscopic compared to the risks associated with infection from the virus.

Here is the latest information:

In the UK there has been an ongoing study looking at changes over time in brain tissue.  These studies have recruited young people and performed brain scans on them with the intent to follow those people over time and look at changes in their brains.

This library of results has now been used to look at the effects of COVID-19 infections on the brain.

782 patients who had brain scans prior to the pandemic where contacted.  Of those, 394 were COVID-19 survivors (only 15 of which had infection severe enough for hospitalization); the remaining 388 individuals had not been infected.  All 783 were rescanned.

Those patients who had not been infected showed no changes in their brain scans.

BUT…

Those patients who had been infected with COVID-19, even though the infection was minimal, showed significant loss of gray matter, particularly in regions of the brain related to smell, taste, and the memory of experiences that evoke emotional responses.

The results suggest that these COVID-recovered young people will have issues in the long term with their ability to remember emotion-evoking events.

Brain matter does not regenerate, so any destruction of gray matter is life long and life-altering.

We can expect similar studies to follow up concerning other organs, particularly the loss of cardiac muscle.

These results should alert us to the fact that infection and survival of COVID-19 is NOT inconsequential.

How will insurance companies deal with these problems as they arise in the future?  Will they deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions resulting from the infection?  Will they deny coverage only to those who refuse vaccination?

PLEASE ENCOURAGE, CAJOLE, PLEAD WITH, or PAY those young people you know to get vaccinated.

Of the 6 million adolescents between 12 and 17 who have been immunized, there have been 7 reported cases of cardiac myopathy, all of which successfully resolved after treatment.  That is a rate of less than 1 in a million.

The long-term risks of recovering from a mild case of COVID-19 are clear, and they are irreversible.
