What is meant by “MAGA”.
It is time, I believe to stop fighting the weeds in this American garden and step back and look at what the gardener is attempting to create.
Stop reacting to each and every racist tweet and statement that Mr. Trump makes. We already know that he is racist.
Stop parsing each and every dog whistle, each and every instance of signaling the racist supporters and then issuing some equivatory statement that tries to walk back the original statement while having left a clear message to his supporters.
Isn’t it time that we speak out loud what we all know inside: Mr. Trump wishes for and is attempting to protect a White Majority country. His fear, and the fear of his supporters is that America is on track to become a majority-minority country by 2040.
He remembers a society in which White people were substantially in the majority; where white people CHOSE to live in their own neighborhoods and black and brown people CHOSE to live in their own neighborhoods.
He remembers when country clubs and social organizations could CHOOSE to associate with those they wanted to, barring black, brown, Jewish, Italian, Irish, etc. people because that is what they were ALLOWED to CHOOSE.
He remembers when White people could feel particularly good about themselves if they were charitable to the minorities, but not too charitable.
He remembers when White people were in control of companies, but could pat themselves on their own backs because one of their Junior Associates was black, but not too many.
All of this is changing, and it will change even more as White people become the minority. This is terrifying and if the appropriate social and legal levees are not erected now, we will actually be overrun by these “other people” even within our own lifetimes.
