I haven’t posted this because I have tried to keep my politics out of the COVID discussions, remaining as scientific as possible. But…
THE REPUBLICAN EIGHT STEPS FROM DENIAL TO DISASTER
FIRST
Deny that it exists
SECOND
Claim that it is all a hoax, started in China, the Media and the Democrats
THIRD
Delay any action because it would be unnecessary and inappropriate for the government to get involved.
FOURTH
Delay testing, because the results may give bad results. Don’t work with foreign countries to help.
FIFTH
Tell the public that the scientists are overreacting and that we shouldn’t be alarmed, everything will work out fine (“Like a miracle, it will disappear”)
SIXTH
Tell everyone that there are simple solutions right around the corner, so don’t worry.
SEVENTH
Tell everyone that we are doing better than any other country, but they aren’t helping us enough.
EIGHTH
Act surprised (“nobody knew!”) when the situation turns out to be a disaster.
You might think that these refer to COVID-19, but I wrote them thinking about Climate Change.
